I have to root for New York. I have a good friend from Jersey who is a huge Giants fan. Using the same logic, I have rooted for Pittsburgh the last two times they were in the Super Bowl. So I have to root for New York.
That being said ... If New England wins, they will have completed the most impressive season by any (American) professional sports team. They will not be the best football team ever. That's because of parity. You just can't assemble talent like you could just 10-15 years ago. Of course that is part of why their season will be the most impressive ever. They don't have overwhelming talent across the board, like say the 49ers and Cowboys of the early-mid 90's. They may have the best offense ever. I can't remember a team that could stretch the field horizontally and vertically like they do.
Anyways ... go New York!

What a game.
What a finish.
I feel a little bit bad for the Pats (Brady, Corvin, Bruschi, some of those guys) for losing the perfect season. But wow, what a game.
Being a Dolphins fan, it's hard for me to feel any sympathy for those guys!
The Red Sox won the World Series, the Celtics are awesome ... it's only fair that the Pats lose the Super Bowl to a New York team.
Fair point, to be sure.
Still, I don't want to have to listen to the '72 Dolphins chatter anymore.
I’d have to put the Rams as a more powerful post-parity offense. The reason is that the Patriots don’t have a running game, but the Rams had Marshall Faulk. The Rams had a non-existent defense though, making the Patriots, deservedly so, the better team overall.
And I’ll mention that that offense was upset and shut down too… in the Superbowl… by the Patriots in their first Superbowl win: 20-17.
That season is very memorable because of the "tuck rule" that allowed the Patriots to win their playoff game against the Raiders. I call it the "911 pity point" personally, because that was it was a shameless exploitation of the name “Patriots” no different then “freedom fries.” Never Forget!

As far as I'm concerned the Patriots deserve what they got with the loss—play strong in a meaningless game against the Giants and you deserve for them to have your number in the Superbowl.
Of course, the year the Dolphins went undefeated was memorable to me too (if only I wasn't a few months old). For that was the year of the Immaculate Reception and the beginning of the Steeler's dynasty of the 70's.
